A Guide for Tinder

Image
Good Morning,  My boyfriend and I were hanging out with our friends a few nights ago and they were all discussing their new Tinder accounts that they recently set up. They were saying how it's a different way of meeting people because you set it up based on age and radius. It's like speed dating, but you don't really get to speak to them. As I was going through their Tinder with them and hitting "like" and "dislike" and the rare "super like" which you only get once a day if you don't pay for it, it felt like a game. As a girl who doesn't have a Tinder who is looking at other girl's Tinder with my guy friends and knowing what they are looking for I felt there was a need for a general guide, especially since there are fake accounts on there! Picture Guidelines : 1. A good selfie. 2. An entire picture of you dressed well. (casual or formal, it doesn't matter) 3. You with your friends or family. 4. You being active o

❤ September ipsy Bag ❤ Review

Image
Hi Everyone,  I wanted to share my September ipsy bag with all of you. As you probably know, ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription that is $10 a month where you get five beauty products and you also get a makeup bag that it comes in (steal!). So this month I got Elizabeth Mott Queen of the Fill Tinted Brow Gel, City Color City Chic Lipstick, Octavio Argan Oil, NYX three shadow pallet, and First Aid Beauty (FAB) Ultra Repair Cream.  The tinted brow gel has a really nice consistency and went on easily. It came in medium-dark which I felt was a little dark for me, but as the day went on I got used to it (I usually use a brow pencil Anastasia Beverly Hills or Chella in Taupe). It keeps a nice hold, but the reason I use a brow pencil is so that I fill in so I can't see my skin under my eyebrows. I personally wouldn't use the brow gel solo since it doesn't color my skin under my eyebrows, but over a pencil I would. If you have really nice full eyebrows where you just want to

Shea Moisture Product Review

Image
For the past month and a half I have been using some Shea Moisture products that I have been wanting to share with you guys, but it's been hard to figure out where I stand with them. I feel that I am never 100% happy with products that I am using and sometimes I think it could just be because I have curly hair. I always feel that there is something that could be improved to make my hair the way I want it to be. All I am asking for is my hair to be hydrated, voluminous, bouncy, soft, and frizz-free with some control/manageability. Does that seem to be a lot? I don't feel that it should be considered a lot when typically the things I'm describing are related to each other. Yet I can't find really anything to that satisfies me 100%. *sad face* Anyway, leading up to my product review... I used three Shea Moisture products: Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Conditioner, Curl Enhancing Smoothie, & Curling Gel Soufflé. Curl & Shine Conditione

My favorite looks at the 2015 MTV VMAs

Image
Good Morning, Did you get a chance to watch the 2015 VMAs last night? If you did not get a chance to sit down and watch it you missed a couple great performances, Justin Bieber cry, Kanye West announce that he's running for president in 2020, and the beautiful looks for the night! As soon as I saw Taylor Swift's makeup look I was amazed. Not only was it flawless and clean, but it was also so simple. I cannot wait to replicate this look ASAP!! The second look that I was in love with was Kylie Jenner's. Her look was so vintage, yet modern at the same time. Her makeup was great, but I really think her hair completed the look. She looks very mature. I think this might be my favorite look for her. The 2015 MTV VMAs was definitely entertaining. I still cannot believe Nicki Minaj called out Miley Cyrus on something that was said to a tabloid and that Kanye West is going to run for president! Definitely check out some clips from last night. What did you like about the 2015

Product Review: The Nudes & Master Conceal Maybelline New York

Image
Good Evening Everyone,     I kept hearing rave reviews on these two Maybelline products, The Nudes and Master Conceal, so I decided to try them out. The Nudes pallet I paid I believe around $11 for it and for the most part the shadows are pretty pigmented. The light colors seemed to not highlight as much as I would have liked them to, but I also feel that since I have very fair skin that I understand why they didn't work out well. On the other hand, the darker colors (75% of the pallet), were pigmented and build able. It worked perfect for an everyday go to pallet for some neutral shades just to make the lids pop a little and then if I wanted to create a smokey eye in the evening it worked well too! I feel that this product is worth the $11, especially for someone who wants to start applying eyeshadow, recreate smokey eye looks, and/or for key neutral shades.    The Master Conceal in the shade 20-Light worked really well. I felt that it covered my dark circles nicely, strobe

Color Transformation

Image
So last week in school I did a color correction on my friend. She had a light brown root, orange midshaft, and golden blonde ends. See the before picture below:                                I applied a filler to the ends with demi-permanent hair color of 6B with water. She chose the 6B for the permanent hair color, so when choosing the filler you have to go with the matching shade or if need be one shade lighter. I applied the filler only to the ends to partial midshaft (where I noticed the lightness). After applying that, I blotted it with towels to make sure it was absorbed into the cuticle, and not dripping. Then, from root to tip I applied 6B permanent hair color by Goldwell mixed with 10 volume developer. After letting her process for 30 minutes. The end result is what you see below. She was extremely happy and satisfied with the color.

Trackside Café

Image
Hello Everyone,  It's been a little bit since my last post, but I thought I'd catch you up! I haven't done anything too crazy/fun since I've been busy with school and work, but I'll share the more exciting things that have happened. Last Sunday, I went to visit my friend at work called Trackside CafĂ©. It was the cutest little cafĂ© EVER. I got their version of eggs benedict which included eggs over-easy with bacon, sprouts, and hollandaise sauce on a biscuit with a side of homefries! It was so good and the cook made it pretty as well.

Prom Updo

Do you want me to do a tutorial? What is your favorite thing about this updo? What is your favorite updo?

Flamboyage

Image
I had a girl come into my school who had a 2 inch regrowth of level 3 and then the hair shaft was what you see on the left, which since I use Goldwell in my school I matched it to 5NBP (5 Neutral Beige Pearl) or light brown reflecting opal. She wanted a flamboyage which is an ombré with a balayage. So the first step I did was for the regrowth I mixed 60mls of 20 volume and 60 mls of 5NBP (Goldwell uses a 1:1 ratio). I applied it to the regrowth area and let it process for 20 minutes. I then brought the color halfway down the shaft to refresh the color and let that process for about 10 minutes. After rinsing and washing the color away, I had to roughly dry the hair 80-90%. I took horizontal partings in the back and did subsections vertically where I lightly teased and applied BW2 lightener. Slowly as I got to the top most horizontal sections and I started to balayage higher and higher. I did the same thing as I got to the front, but I did diagonal partings toward the face since she wan

Went to Montauk yesterday

Image
I went to visit Gurney's yesterday and it was beautiful out there. I loved Montauk and going through the cute quaint towns on the way. I wish I took more photos, but unfortunately I was the driver. I can now understand why a lot of people travel out there for the weekends and why there is so much hype about the East End of Long Island.  When I got closer to home, I stopped at The Parrish Museum in Southhampton. The building itself was amazingly built and was so awesome.

The Banana-sicle

Image
Hello,   I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far! In New York the weather is so warm. I'm in love. There's nothing like getting in some Spring cleaning and a little sunshine. Now I'm just enjoying my snack that I learned from Rachael Ray while flicking between 13 going on 30 and Bring It On: In It To Win It.  My snack:                     The Banana-sicle 1. Get a ripe banana and cut it in half. (It's better if you refrigerate the banana first) 2. Put Popsicle sticks in the banana halves.  3. Spread crunchy or smooth peanut butter (I used smooth), jelly, Nutella, etc!  4. Put whatever toppings you could think of! I used semi-sweet chocolate chips and sprinkles. You could put dried fruit, nuts, cereal, or anything your heart desires.  5. Put in the freezer for a few hours and Tadah, you have a nice frozen sweet treat.  Do you have any healthy snacks that you love? Would you rather watch Bring It On or 13 Going on 30?

Happy Easter Everyone!

Image
I hope everyone had a nice holiday. Today I spent Easter with my boyfriend's family. We had so much food and it was all sooo good. Afterwards, we did an Easter egg hunt which was really fun and pretty competitive since there were prizes for first and second place for whoever had the most points. We also went to the farm next door and saw the pigs and baby chicks (one nestled into my neck ^.^) . Thankfully it was a beautiful day out so we got to spend quite a bit of time outside for a change. See the photos from the day below: How was your holiday? Did you do anything special?

Colored Louie's hair

Image
Today I colored Louie's hair lavender! We had to lift him (he was a level 6) to a level 10. I used powdered lightener and developer by Wella Color Charm. We then used Ion Color Brilliance in lavender and that took about 35 minutes to process. It looks so good! I'm so glad this happened today!

Avant-Garde Makeup

Image
The past few days left of my makeup mod we were able to practice avant-garde makeup. Avant-garde is new and unusual or experimental ideas, especially in the arts, or the people introducing them. I must say I had so much fun with this makeup style! I did my friend's makeup (top picture) where my inspiration was the lips. She did myself (lower picture) and her inspiration was the cheshire cat.

Texturized Upstyle

Image
Remember a few days ago I was saying that I wanted to invest in a texture iron? Well my friend brought in hers today and I absolutely LOVED it. It was by Turbo Power. It was mini so it took a little bit to crimp her entire head, but it was well worth it. I did the upstyle below:

What Lipstick Shape are you?

Image
I can't believe that this is true. I am a sharp angled curved top! I never used to be a big lipstick wearer, but ever since I started school I have been using it a lot more. The lipstick that I received in my ipsy bag is currently my favorite one, it's by NYX Cosmetics in the shade "Pops". It goes on so smoothly and makes my lips feel soft. Since I am kind of a noob at lipsticks, if you have any recommendations I'd be open to it. Let me know what your lipstick personality is and what is currently your favorite lipstick!

Texture Iron

I really want a texture iron to use on different hairstyles and updos and I have been looking at one in particular by Sam Villa. I tried it at the International Beauty Show in NYC earlier this month and I LOVED it. It worked so well and it looked great, it even lasted a few days. I know there are other texture irons out there like the one by hot tools. I feel that the one by Sam Villa is definitely a tighter crimp and a better quality. Have any of you tried a crimper or texture iron? What were your feelings on it?

Ballerina Braid

Here's a picture of a ballerina braid that I did on my friend. It's such a pretty braid and can be worn anywhere. Should I do a tutorial?

Essie Cashmere Matte Collection 2015

Image
Essie released a new line called "Cashmere Matte." It looks  absolutely fabulous, but does it last ? After quite a bit of research, I found that many people who purchased the nail polish from the matte collection were unhappy and they said it chipped very easily. My favorite color in the collection is Just Stitched! I will have to go purchase it and see how I feel about it. I also will need to buy a matte top coat. What is your favorite color from this collection? & Have you tried this product?
